Thursday was a bittersweet day out on the picket line for the MoveUP members fighting for retirement security at the Westminster Savings Credit Union Shaughnessy Station branch.

It has been 31 days since the picket line first went up back on January 22. Since then, our MoveUP members have remarked how wonderful it has been to have the support of the community, of credit union members, and of members of other unions.

But what has kept them strongest through these times is their solidarity with one another. This group truly is a family, which is what made today’s occasion so bittersweet.

While the group helped celebrated Leanne’s belated birthday (her birthday was the day prior), it also marked a farewell party for one of their family members – Aly.

With a young family to take care of, Aly had no choice but to pursue another opportunity. His family on the picket line are sad to see him go, but wish him well and they know they’ll still see him around from time to time.

We wish you all the best, Aly, and we know you’ll still be with us in spirit as we continue the fight for retirement security for all workers at Westminster Savings Credit Union.
